In rural Ghana, a woman often works on her husband’s farm, but nothing is hers. If she is widowed, her property returns to her husband’s family.
With a small amount of funding, she can start her own business using the skills she has learned at home, such as cooking and sewing, or by buying local produce in one village and selling it in the next. The income lets her support herself and her children.
Creating New Futures pays the start-up costs and can link each woman to a mentor who provides encouragement and advice.
